Devil To Pay – Fate Is Your Muse Immer wieder gibt es Bands, die versuchen, nicht mit dem Einheitsbrei mitzuschwimmen, sondern in Bezug auf harte Metal-Riffs und einen optimierten Sound im Stil des Metals der 70er und frühen 80er anzuknüpfen, und diesen neu zu definieren. Eine dieser Bands nennt sich "Devil To Pay", welche mit ihrem neuen Album "Fate Is Your Muse" diese Aufgabe perfekt erfüllt. Gleich mit dem Opener des Albums "Prepair To Die" weiß man, wie sich der Rest des Albums anhören wird und dass es sich hier um schwerfälligen Heavy Rock handelt, der immer wieder typische Southern Rock-Elemente aufweist. Das hätte ich bei den Jungs aus Indianapolis auch nicht anders erwartet. Die Nummern sind vom Ablauf her sehr wohl durchdacht und wechseln zwischen gemütlichen und typischen Hardrock-Nummern bis hin zu schnellen und energiegeladenen Tracks wie zum Beispiel "This Train Won't Stop", welcher sicher zu einem Geheimtipp auf dieser Silberscheibe gezählt werden darf. Abwechslung in der Spielweise ist auf alle Fälle garantiert. Bei mehrmaligem Durchhören, kommt man sich vor, als würde man mit der Band vom Anfang bis zum Ende des Albums eine Geschichte miterleben. Eine Geschichte, in der Themen wie Wiedergeburt, das Ende von Tagen und der dünne Schleier zwischen Realität und Phantasie behandelt werden. In meinen Augen ein sehr gelungenes Werk. Anständig produzierte, anspruchsvolle Aufnahmen sorgen hier für ein fesselndes Hörerlebnis der Hardrock-Superlative. Fans von "Black Label Society" werden mit diesen Burschen eine Freude haben, und allen anderen Rockern kann ich nur empfehlen, sich mit diesem Album mal auseinanderzusetzen – wirklich empfehlenswert!
