Hellridemusic.com review of "thirty pieces" by Darryl Baysinger 01-14-04 The Indianapolis band Devil to Pay have gone and released a full length. You might remember some months back they released a 7" that had the song "Tractor Fuckin' Trailer" and was reviewed by Barnes here at Hellride. It is included on this release. This is a metal CD full of great riffs and hooks galore! The vocals of Steve Janiak are cleanly sung, and at times remind me of legendary warbler, Johnny Garcia.(Kyuss, Slo-Burn, Unida, Hermano) Listening to Thirty Pieces of Silver I find, for the most part, they do not remind me of any one artist or group. But rather a colorful amalgamation of various performers. The genres of music you will find here are also varied. Metal is the dominating style here. But you will find rocking metal, and yes, even some doom. I definitely give Thirty Pieces of Silver a double thumbs up! Very fine playing and production! It should be rocking and heavy enough for everyone out there!
